President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Petro Poroshenko handed the battle flag to the 503 separate battalion of the naval infantry during the working trip to Mariupol.
“The history of any military unit is marked by fateful milestones that remain in the memory of every soldier for life,” the Head of State addressed the Ukrainian warriors.
“Today is that kind of day for the 503rd separate battalion of the naval infantry. The battalion was formed during the war with the Russian aggressor. Its basis was mobilized patriots and soldiers with combat experience. In the short term, you have started to fulfill the military tasks, first of all, on the defense of Mariupol,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
“On occasion of the Day of Naval Infantry, I am honored to hand the battle flag to the personnel of the battalion as evidence of high trust from the leadership of the state, its supreme military command and the entire Ukrainian nation. I believe that the personnel of the battalion will honorably bear its battle flag as a symbol of military valor and glory. And the flag will be an amulet for each of you,” the President said.
