Martial Law and Mobilization Extended for Another 90 Days

On July 15, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, at a plenary session, adopted laws extending the duration of martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine.

These laws were developed in response to the ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine to ensure the legal regime of martial law and the organization of national defense.

The law approved Presidential Decree No. 468/2025 of July 14, 2025, "On extending the duration of martial law in Ukraine." According to the document, the period of martial law is extended from 05:30 on August 7, 2025, for another 90 days. The law comes into force on August 7, 2025.

The Verkhovna Rada also approved Presidential Decree No. 479/2025 of July 14, 2025, "On extending the duration of general mobilization." According to this decree, the period of general mobilization is extended from August 7, 2025, for another 90 days. The law comes into force on August 7, 2025.

Martial law and general mobilization have been in effect in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, when the Russian Federation launched its full-scale invasion. Since then, these measures have been periodically extended to maintain the country's defense capability and respond to external threats.
