Ukrainian SOF unit successfully passed NATO certification

Ukrainian SOF joins international SOF family

For the first time ever, a SOF unit from a country which is not a member of the NATO successfully passed certification as a SOF unit and has the right to be involved in NATO Response Force (NRF).

The certification of the Ukrainian unit was carried out in order to ensure the Alliance’s confidence in the capability of the unit involved in the NRF to complete the full range of tasks assigned to it in NATO-led operations.

Ukrainian SOF servicemen demonstrated the full range of task execution capabilities at the Flaming Sword 2019 international exercise, during which the NATO evaluation took place.

The evaluation of the Ukrainian Special Operations Land Task Group (SOLTG) was conducted in accordance with the procedures and requirements of the NATO SOF Evaluation Standards and was formalized in the NATO Senior Observer’s final evaluation report (SOF EVAL).
