During a visit to Zmiyinyy Island as part of a working trip to the southern regions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced the newly appointed commanders in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The President heard a report by the Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the maritime situation in the area of responsibility.
The President also introduced generals and officers appointed to senior positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“My decrees have appointed: Commander of the Air Force — Major General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Assault Troops — Colonel Maksym Myrhorodskyi,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“I also agreed, and by order of the Minister of Defense, the following persons have been appointed: Commander of the Operational Command ‘South’ — Major General Andriy Kovalchuk, Commander of the Operational Command ‘East’ — Major General Oleh Mikats, Commander of the Operational Command ‘West’ — Colonel Serhiy Litvinov, Deputy Chief of the General Staff — Colonel Volodymyr Koval. These are experienced officers, and, most importantly, they all have combat experience, which fully meets our vision,” the President stressed.
“I know that each of them will do everything to protect our homeland,” the Head of State emphasized.
