A Russian missile strike hit the training ground of one of the mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, where training exercises were underway. The attack was confirmed by the press service of the Ground Forces.
Thanks to timely safety measures following the air raid alert, large-scale losses were avoided. However, there are confirmed casualties and injuries. All those affected are receiving qualified medical assistance.
As of 19:30, reports indicated three servicemembers killed and 14 wounded.
According to Ground Forces spokesperson Vitalii Sarantsev, the strike was likely carried out with an Iskander-M missile. “This is a temporary training site; troops are not stationed there permanently. A few minutes before the strike, personnel managed to disperse and take cover. Unfortunately, some servicemembers ignored safety protocols — most of the casualties were among them,” he said during a national telethon.
The Ground Forces Command extended condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen. A special commission has been formed to investigate the incident, and law enforcement is working at the site.
Additional security measures are being implemented to protect personnel in the event of further missile or air attacks.
