Kongsberg opens Ukrainian office to expand NASAMS cooperation and local air defense
Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, the leading Norwegian defense manufacturer and producer of NASAMS air defense systems, has officially opened an office in Ukraine.
This was announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
“In cooperation with Kongsberg, we are focusing on joint air defense projects. We are preparing new NASAMS-based solutions to strengthen the protection of civilians and critical infrastructure. Air defense is one of our strategic priorities. This month alone, the enemy has launched more than 3,500 missiles and drones. We are working to scale up production and accelerate deliveries,” the minister stated.
He emphasized that opening the office marks another step in developing the partnership between Ukraine, Norway, and Kongsberg. “Together we will implement projects in interceptor production, strengthening air defense, and maritime protection — all areas where Kongsberg is a global leader. This also opens up new opportunities for cooperation between Ukrainian and Norwegian engineers to improve the effectiveness of current weaponry and introduce innovations.”
Umerov also thanked the Norwegian government for its financial support: “I thank the Kongsberg team for their trust and willingness to build a long-term partnership. We expect practical results in the near future.”
