Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced the strengthening of training standards for personnel and enhanced safety measures at training centers.
Basic Training
The duration of the basic training course for recruits is being increased from 49 to 51 days. The additional days will focus on countering attack drones—a key requirement of the updated General Military Training Program (GVTP). According to General Syrskyi, work on the sixth edition of this program is nearing completion.
The role of psychological preparation for servicemen will also be strengthened, along with the development of basic training in the rear areas of brigades.

Protecting Personnel at Training Grounds
Syrskyi emphasized that the congregation of personnel and equipment, as well as accommodation in tent camps, is now prohibited. New shelters are being constructed and engineering solutions implemented at training locations to protect against missile and drone strikes. Responsible officers must promptly notify personnel about air raid alerts.
This statement comes amid repeated Russian strikes on training grounds and units, which also led to the recent resignation of Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi as Commander of the Ground Forces.
Drapatyi resigned following a Russian attack on the 239th training center, citing the inability to eradicate irresponsibility among commanders, mutual cover-ups, and impunity in the army. Notably, Syrskyi himself previously served as Commander of the Ground Forces before becoming Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Structural Changes
To improve training, by order of the Commander-in-Chief, newly formed army corps will be assigned to training battalions operating within the training centers of operational commands.
Major General Ihor Skybyuk, recently appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will be responsible for the training direction.
