Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, has announced the launch of an Instructor School and new initiatives to scale UAV units. The announcement followed a monthly briefing on the training of instructors across various specializations.
Training is being intensified for instructors in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ground robotic systems of various types. This is expected to support the expansion of Ukraine’s unmanned systems units by increasing the number of qualified operators.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Pavlo Palisa, previously stated that up to 80% of successful strikes on enemy personnel and equipment are carried out by UAV teams. To reinforce this capability, the Armed Forces are considering extending the “18–24 Contract” program — which offers a one-million-hryvnia bonus — to drone specialists. Given the complexity and duration of UAV training, such contracts may exceed one year in length, unlike those in infantry roles.
