The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is revising its food catalog for the Armed Forces to optimize supply chains, improve logistics, and ensure cost-effective procurement. The initiative, led by the State Logistics Operator (DOT), aims to streamline the assortment while maintaining nutritional balance and quality.
Key Changes
- Removal of rarely used items – Certain meat, dairy, vegetable, and fruit products will be excluded due to transportation and storage challenges.
- Expansion of domestic fish products – More Ukrainian-produced frozen fish options will be added.
- Introduction of new popular items – Products such as marshmallows, halva, cupcakes, frozen fish steaks, and bottled water (up to 6 liters) will be included.
- Reduction of catalog size – The number of items will be adjusted from 360 to approximately 340 for better cost management.
Why the Update?
- Data-driven decisions – Digital tracking of food consumption helped identify real demand.
- Budget efficiency – Previous optimizations saved around 6 billion UAH in 2024.
- Adaptation to battlefield conditions – The changes reflect the practical needs of military personnel.
The next steps involve market analysis and finalizing product descriptions to align with national standards.
