On the ceasefire on the Donbas since July 21

On July 21, no firing of Ukrainian positions in Donbas by armed groups of the Russian Federation and its mercenaries was recorded, the press center of the Joint Forces Operation has reported.

The headquarters of JFO reported that at about 8:25 am on July 21, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed and two others were wounded as a result of the explosion of an unidentified explosive device set up by a sabotage group of the enemy.

An urgent investigation has been initiated into the death of two Ukrainian servicemen who were killed by a landmine in the Luhansk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The Trilateral Contact Group agreed on a ceasefire in Donbas from July 21. The sides also agreed on responsibility for the opening of fire.

However, the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE in Ukraine (SMM) reports that from July 00:01 to 16:00 on July 21 recorded in total 75 ceasefire violations (three explosions, 21 projectiles in flight and 51 shots of heavy-machine-gun and small-arms fire).

Almost all of these ceasefire violations (74, including two explosions) were recorded between 00:01 and 8:00 in Luhansk region, in areas east of Popasna (government-controlled, 69km west of Luhansk) and near Zolote (government-controlled, 60km west of Luhansk). Between 8:01 and 12:00, the SMM recorded one explosion in Donetsk region, near Avdiivka (government-controlled, 17km north of Donetsk).
