The USA will consider the possibility of transferring missile defense systems to Ukraine, particularly the "Iron Dome"

США розглянуть можливість передачі України систем протиракетної оборони, зокрема Залізного купола

Thanks to the agreements that were reached during the visit of President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States of America, Ukraine may receive new air and missile defense systems, in particular the Iron Dome system.

The Ukraine air defense amendment to the draft 2022 defense bill was introduced by representative Scott Franklin and passed by a bipartisan vote, the Presidential Office of Ukraine reported that.

According to the amendment, the U.S. Department of Defense will file a report to Congress that will include options for potentially sending or transferring such systems to Ukraine.

The bill of the U.S. House of Representatives already calls for $275 million in military aid to Ukraine, not including any new transfer of a missile defense system.

The Iron Dome system, built by the Israeli defense company Rafael in partnership with Raytheon, has proven itself one of the world's most effective killers of short-range missiles. The Israeli military has said Iron Dome has knocked down about 90% of missiles fired into Israel over the past several years.

The Ukraine missile defense system amendment fits well with the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative for 2022.
