Kharkiv Armored Plant modernizes command tank

ХБТЗ модернізував командирський танк Т-64БВК

The Kharkiv Armored Plant State Enterprise, which is a part of Ukroboronprom State Concern, carried out a deep modernization of the T-64BVK command tank for the first time.

The updated vehicle has successfully passed standard tests, Ukroboronprom reports.

The company's specialists installed modern surveillance devices, including thermal imaging, a rear hemisphere television surveillance, the latest satellite navigation equipment and a commander's cupola with a 12.7 mm NSVT machine gun. Illumination devices, a radio station, intercom and switching equipment, front ejection panels and others were also replaced.

The upgraded tank got an additional filter for primary refining of the fuel system of the boiler, another surveillance camera for the commander with a detection range of up to 2000 m, enhanced protection of the NSVT machine gun and fuel tanks, rear-view mirrors, front rubber-metal screens and other improvements. At the same time, the employees of the plant perform similar works with a batch of T-64BV tanks.

"Our main task is to provide the Ukrainian army with reliable and updated military hardware that satisfy the requirements of modern combat," Herman Smetanin said, the director of the Kharkiv Armored Plant State Enterprise. "Modernization of the command tank is extremely important, as it is necessary not only to significantly improve the existing tactical-technical characteristics, but also to create all the appropriate conditions for effective control over thed detachment in all weather conditions and at any time of day. The employees of the plant have successfully completed this task. This is especially important in the context of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine."
