STRILA interceptor drone — Ukraine’s answer to the Shahed threat

During the Brave1 Demo Day held to promote military technology in Ukraine, Kyiv-based company WIY DRONES unveiled the STRILA interceptor drone, designed to counter Shahed-136 drones used by Russia.

STRILA reaches a top speed of 355 km/h, fast enough to pursue and intercept Shahed-type targets mid-air. The drone uses specially designed propellers that withstand high-speed aerodynamic loads and maintain flight stability.

The drone is built for 15–20 minutes of flight time and is equipped with both daytime and TV cameras, allowing it to operate in any lighting conditions. This enables STRILA to engage targets both day and night.

The project remains under development, but the engineers believe that STRILA could enhance Ukraine’s low-altitude air defense capability. With Russia continuing to increase Shahed production and launch numbers, interceptors like STRILA may become a key element of future protection strategies.
