BTR-80 APCs handed over to Ukrainian Army

The Kyiv Armored Plant (KBTZ) handed over nine BTR-80 armored personnel carriers, repaired as part of the state defense order, to the Ukrainian Army with a delay of six months.

"Today we are handing over to our defenders the last batch of repaired BTR-80 armored personnel carriers. The work had to be completed in a special quarantine regime, but all our obligations under the state defense order in 2019 have now been fulfilled," said Volodymyr Synyavskyi, director of the KBTZ.

All armored vehicles underwent scheduled repairs, received new modern means of communication and navigation, as well as new 29-inch tires made in Ukraine.

"The company was supposed to complete the contract last fall, but due to delays in financing state guarantees and additional work, which was revealed after a detailed inspection of the APCs, the work was delayed. After the change of the management of KBTZ and appointment to the position of acting Director Volodymyr Synyavsky at the end of last year, the plant resumed work under the contract," said Deputy General Director of Ukroboronprom for production Igor Fomenko.
