The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved for operation in the Armed Forces the domestically produced “Svitlovod” unmanned FPV aerial system.
According to the Ministry, “Svitlovod” drones are built on a durable frame, equipped with high-performance motors and lightweight high-capacity batteries. These UAVs use a fiber-optic control channel and are capable of delivering a combat payload over distances of several dozen kilometers.
The drones are fitted with automatic target detection and recognition systems and can be configured with either day or night vision cameras depending on the mission requirements.
The Ministry also noted that since the beginning of 2025, more than 60 models of unmanned systems with fiber-optic control channels have been approved for use—highlighting that the promised standardization and unification across the military drone fleet remains elusive.
